Enhance Patient Safety
Fall Prevention

Patient falls occur in up to 3% of all acute care hospitalizations. An estimated 30% of inpatient falls result in serious injury6.

EarlySense introduce a Fall Prevention Comprehensive Solution which has been reported by clinicians to substantially reduce patient falls7. The System is designed to allow “the fastest way” to the patient. This enables the nurse to be at the bedside before the patient has exited the bed in order to insure the patient’s safety. The system allows personalization to the needs of the patient and automatic adaptation to the unique needs at night.

Pressure Ulcer Prevention

  • Prevalence of Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers (HAPU) is 5% in acute care settings8.
  • Patients with HAPU compared to patients without HAPU are9:
    • More likely to die during their hospitalization: 2.81 times (181% more)
    • More likely to be readmitted within 30 days – 33% more
  • Stay in hospital longer – 136% higher average length of stay
  • Current clinical practices require nurses to change the patients’ position, according to their risk level. Usual practice calls for changes every 1, 2 or 4 hours.
  • Unlike competing technologies, the EarlySense system provides continuous monitoring of patients motion level as well as alerts, to enable clinicians to detect patients at higher risk of developing pressure ulcers. In addition the system provides notifications to nurses when time for change in posture is due, proactively preventing skin breakdown.

The EarlySense System assists Clinicians in  Pressure Ulcer Prevention Solution by providing:
  • Turn counter exceeded alerts matching various protocols (every 1,2,4,6 hours)
  • Timely turn reminders to staff’s handheld devices
  • Unit reports that can verify nurses’ compliance with turn protocols to assess and improve the department’s performance
  • Individual status reports on patient’s minimal or high motion activity during the night, enabling Clinicians who use the system to  report reductions in HAPU rates7
