Lynn M. Taussig M.D
Lynn M. Taussig M.D. was CEO of National Jewish Medical and Research Center for nearly 12 ½ years. Currently, he is a Special Advisor to the Provost (for the Life Sciences) at the University of Denver and a consultant to National Jewish. He serves as the chair of the steering committee for the Childhood Asthma Research and Education (CARE) Network. Prior to assuming his position at National Jewish, he was Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, and Director, Steele Children’s Research Center at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. He was on the faculty of the University of Arizona for 19 ½ years and began the Pediatric Pulmonary Section at that institution. In 1980, Dr. Taussig initiated the Tucson Children’s Respiratory Study, a major longitudinal study of the risk factors for asthma; the study continues today. He is the author of more than 165 scientific publications and six books and monographs. He is a recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Alumni Achievement Award from Washington University School of Medicine, the Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Thoracic Society, and the Kendig Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Taussig is a graduate of Harvard University and Washington University School of Medicine.
Andrew Colin M.D.
Andrew Colin M.D. is a Professor of Pediatrics and the Director of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. He received his MD at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and completed his pediatric training in hospitals related to that medical school. He trained in Pediatric Pulmonology and Pediatric Intensive Care at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem and subsequently at Children`s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. He served as Associate-Chief of a Technion-affiliated Department of Pediatrics in Haifa, Israel. In 1990 he joined the Faculty of Children`s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. He served as Clinical Director of the Division of Respiratory Diseases and was Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. He actively articipated in research and teaching and received the Klaus Peter International Teaching Award of Harvard Medical School, and was the first recipient of the Andrew A. Colin Teaching Award, named after him at Children`s Hospital, Boston. Dr Colin expertise includes: asthma, cystic fibrosis, structural and functional development of the respiratory system and related problems including lung diseases of prematurity, pediatric bronchoscopy and more.
Richard J. Martin MD
Richard J. Martin MD is the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center, and Professor of Medicine at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver. He holds the Edelstein Family Chair in Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Martin is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, American Federation for Clinical Research, American College of Physicians, American Association of Allergy Asthma and Immunology, and International Society for Chronobiology. His research interests are in the area of adult asthma, including airway inflammation, chronobiology and chronotherapy, nocturnal asthma, and the interaction of chronic infection and asthma. In 2003, Dr. Martin was honored with the American College of Chest Physicians Distinguished Scholar Award in Respiratory Health. He has published more than 250 articles, books, and book chapters. Dr. Martin received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, and completed residency training at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and a pulmonary fellowship at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City.
Alfred Lewis
Alfred Lewis is founder and President of the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium International, Inc. (DMPC–www.Dismgmt.com) which is the leading consultant/procurement broker in the field of disease management. Mr. Lewis has published many articles on the disease management. He is founder and past president of the Disease Management Association of America (www.DMAA.org) , the official industry association. He is one of only two two-time winners (1999, 2004) of the DMAA’s Karen Coughlin Award for Outstanding Achievement in Disease Management. In 2002, The Disease Management Association of America created the Alfred B. Lewis Presidents Award. Prior to founding the DMPC in 1996, Lewis had been Chairman and CEO (2003-2005) of CORE Inc., a disability and utilization management company. Al holds undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University, phi beta kappa and holds a Visiting Scholar appointment at the Heller School for Social Policy, Brandeis University.
